The Comeback of Clogs

February 9, 2010 • By Erika

You better believe it. The clog has returned. Not as dance shoes, costume footwear, or Crocs, but as a real, existing fashion trend:

From this…

to this:

Mary Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, and Alexa Chung in clogs

Clogs from Chanel, Louis Vuitton and as worn by Vera Wang herself

Clogs on the cover of Vogue UK

Now before you run off screaming that the world has gone crazy, take a closer look at some of the newest clogs styles. They really made an effort to glam up the stiff wooden shoes for this season:

Motorcycle biker chic with the Lavender Label Vera Wang Harness Clog

Stuart Weitzman Studclog – an open toe version

Simple buckled design for the Corso Como Simple

Rich suede and gold studs for the DSQUARED2 G005

Studs and leather on the Opening Ceremony Wooden Platform Clog Booties

They’re definitely not the style that doctors, teachers, chefs, and other professionals prefer anymore. These clogs are on a whole new fashion level.

However, are they at the fashion buyer’s level? Or more importantly, will they pass your taste level?

We’ll just have to sit back and wait to see if this trend will really trickle down to general acceptance. If they won’t, then some celebration is in order. If they will, then they better come up with some really awesome designs. Will stay tuned for that!
