5 Alternatives to Mary Kate’s Steel Tip Oxfords

March 26, 2010 • By Roselle

For a small girl, Mary Kate sure carries a lot of stuff. Here’s a picture of her leaving her New York apartment, toting two huge bags. I wonder where she’s off to…

At first glance, this picture may seem everyday ordinary, but take a closer look and you will notice that Mary Kate is wearing flat oxfords embellished with steel toe-caps.

I initially thought she was wearing peep-toe oxfords but when I looked closer, I realized the shoes had tips made of steel!

How interesting, don’t you agree? Discovering it immediately took my breath away.

I did try my best to ID the shoes. I even checked the Elizabeth & James and Olsenboye websites hoping to find it; but my search across the web was totally futile. I tried looking for a similar pair, thinking it mustn’t be that hard to find, it turns out I was wrong because I ended up with nothing.

That only means one thing for these shoes – it is RARE. Or maybe it is relatively new. I’m sure later on, other more affordable brands will start making knock offs of it.

For now however, I will have to settle with alternatives – not exactly embellished with steel toe-caps, but look-alikes with contrasting toe-caps instead.

Here are my choices. Do you think these are ideal substitutes? Or should I just do further research and get the real thing instead?
