Philip Treacy for Valentino Lace Court Shoe

March 17, 2010 • By Erika

I first saw these dreamy lace heels by Philip Treacy for Valentino Spring/Summer 2010 over at Shoe Daydreams when she wrote about them here in her blog. She went on to say that these shoes will be hers if they exist in real life, but a blog update on the topic nearly 4 months later revealed why they were suddenly out of reach: these lace heels cost an incomprehensible $6,226.

We all died a little inside with Shoe Daydreams after finding that out.

Looks from the Valentino Spring 2010 RTW collection with Philip Treacy lace heels in black and in cream

For the Irish milliner’s first ever foray into shoes, Philip Treacy did amazingly well on this footwear collection for Valentino. In fact, all of the shoes that were sent down the runway were so devastatingly beautiful that fashion followers have all bookmarked this hat designer to see what he’s going to come up with next.

I’m going to bet that Philip Treacy’s next shoe collection will be as opulent as this one for Valentino, but I’m not going to bet on them becoming significantly less expensive. So maybe it’s time to get a little crafty? We could take an inexpensive lace pump like the rsvp Aven … :

rsvp Aven, $62.18, also available in cream

… and go crazy on it with a glue gun and some wispy black lace:

But if you’re not the crafty girl type, then here are 3 embellished shoes that are still a fraction of the Valentino Court Shoe’s price. They a far cry from the real thing but should get you through ’til the next Philip Treacy collection:

Badgley Mischka Tai, $204.00

Charles by Charles David Spicey, $114.95

rsvp Lucy, now only $68.00
