I have a confession to make. Even before I wrote the Christian Dior Fall 2010 Couture post, I already had a thing for shoes that resemble vines or stems and look like they’re crawling all over your feet and legs. There’s something delicate about the way the straps of vine-like shoes curl and twist against the skin, and not to mention they look downright sexy.
So it was this interest that drew me to write about John Galliano’s collection out of all the latest Fall 2010 Couture fashion shows and to find more shoes that look like vines, branches or stems. Some from this list have curved straps like the Christian Dior shoes while some I chose simply because they had leaves or something from nature, but I did my best to come up with a compilation containing styles from different shoe types.
Here are the 6 nature-inspired shoes that I found:
The first one I found are these Jean-Michel Cazabat Kala Suede Birdcage Sandals. With its thin, interweaving straps and muted pink color, it’s the pair that resembles the Christian Dior shoes the most. These sandals are currently 50% off at Shopbop, now $197.50 when it once was $395.00.
Roberto Cavalli NDS311 Leaves Suede Pump, $770.40 (Sold Out)
I knew Roberto Cavalli would have something that had leaf-like designs because they came out with this beautifully designed gladiator sandal before. I think these could have done away with the straps and left as a peep toe pump but they’re gorgeous nonetheless.
Luichiny Hillary Shoe, $47.49 (was $94.99)
A simple criss cross strap sandal, but the slim heel and the gold on the brown make them look so elegant.
Fratelli Rossetti 62668 Leaf Thong Sandals, $349.20 (Sold Out).
Quite possibly my favorite out of all the shoes on this list. The overlapping leaves design is divine and the slim heel strap is just lovely.
Azzurro flats from Beverly Feldman, $185.00 (Sold Out)
Here’s a pair for ballet flats fanatics. Another shoe chosen simply for the leaves in its design but I’m also loving the natural colors combined with the gold on these.
And lastly, the Millie sandal booties from 80%20. A very unique sandal, don’t you think? Now these are a pair I could wear all summer long. And maybe force it in the fall. Hey, those are autumn leaves on the sandals, right?
