I’ve always been kind of on the fence about Donald J. Pliner. Sometimes they come out with a collection of drool-worthy ultra-trendy styles, then other times they give us super sensible to the point of being grandma-ish shoes.
So I’ve never really been sure what their design aesthetic was because of their way too varied shoe designs. Thankfully, this time, they stuck with one style and totally got it right with this Becca wedge sandal:
These are like the spring / summer version of the hoof-like black booties that a lot of shoe fanatics have been clomping around in these past seasons. In place of the black shafts and wraps, we get these thick straps that are knotted at the vamp. We still get some of the platform and LOTS of the edgy heel of course. But instead of just a solid platform base, Donald J Pliner cuts out some wedge pieces for a lighter, more spring and summer-y feel.
That beautiful flared wedge continues on in this Beige Nappa color of the Becca wedges:
And on this edgier and even more fierce Bataia sandal bootie:
Donald J Pliner Bataia sandal bootie in Black Nappa, $314.95 (Sold Out)
Donald J Pliner Bataia sandal bootie in Beige Nappa, $314.95
But like I said, Donald J Pliner has always been kind of confusing.
After this winning streak, they take that wonderful wedge, stick it on another shoe hoping it’ll click again:
Donald J Pliner Bambi wedge sandals in Black, Rose and Expresso , $294.95
Aaaand I’m back to being on the fence about Donald J Pliner.
