We obviously couldn’t wait for spring here on YNS. So much so that we began blogging about espadrilles as early as Christmas last year!
Well, now that spring is officially a mere 10 days away, we’re happy, we’re excited, and practically beyond ecstatic. We’ve noticed that many of you are too because we’ve received lots of love regarding how we’ve recently filled our pages with almost nothing but the new shoe styles for spring.
We also noticed another thing, but this time on the side of shoe makers. While we’re grateful that they’re giving us tons of warm-weather styles to choose from and blog about, it seems like that some of them have taken the meaning of “the blossoming of spring” a little too literally.
Some shoe brands also seem to view spring as a license to go as crazy, as all-out and as garish on shoes as they can. Gaudy colors, mismatched patterns, over-the-top designs and in-your-face florals — here are 10 new shoes we found that take spring a little bit too far:
1. Carlos by Carlos Santana Destiny pumps
Slap on some shiny stickers of kittens, puppies, dolphins, bears and unicorns and you’re a walking Lisa Frank lunch box in these psychedelic pumps.
Carlos by Carlos Santana Destiny, $89.00
2. BCBGeneration Ariel peep toe pumps
These shoes are described as “Glossy patent, glittery synthetic, animal-print calf hair, metallic, printed or pearlized leather upper in a dress pump style, with a square open peep toe and rolled edges.”
Wait, what? Even with the accompanying picture below, we’re still confused!
BCBGeneration Ariel, $79.00
3. J. Renee Pamela bead cluster sandals
These are actually a sensible pair of strappy sandals, but the beads that look like they came out of a gumball machine.
J. Renee Pamela, $95.00 (Sold Out)
4. Diba Chi Keeta beaded sandals
Another cute pair of sandals but try not to be tempted to eat those candy-like beads!
Diba Chi Keeta, $69.00
5. Rocket Dog Ownit d’orsay peep toe pumps
Rocket Dog, my grandma called and she wants her curtains back.
Rocket Dog Ownit, $49.00 (Sold Out)
6. Ed Hardy Haute pumps
Oh Ed Hardy, what would snarky fashion critics do without you.
Ed Hardy Haute, $69.00
7. Fossil Maddox Pattern flats
Could’ve been cute but this ballet flat is in limbo — the brown strap is all serious but the big blue plastic buckle throws everything off.
Fossil Maddox Pattern Flat, $69.00 (Sold Out)
8. Rampage Grayson cork peep toe slingbacks
Could’ve worked if they just used the floral print and the cork, and left out the doesn’t-match-with-anything navy satin bow.
Rampage Grayson, $49.00
9. J. Renee Yolanda heel sling strap sandals
It’s a leopard-like print on a shiny textured hair scrunchie!
J. Renee Yolanda, $95.00 (Sold Out)
10. Zodiac USA Blaze beaded ballet flats
Shine, gold, bows, beads AND a print? BRING IT.
Zodiac USA Blaze, $69.00 (Sold Out)
