Jessica Simpson in the Strappy YSL Baobab

August 16, 2011 • By Roselle

That’s Jessica Simpson and her latest strappies for you today. The fashion mogul and singer was spotted wearing the shoes while out and about in Hollywood last Sunday:

And as you can see, she even wore it with that strange looking dip dye hair trend going on right now. I agree, from the front and the top, the sandals don’t look anything out of the ordinary. But I must say, once you see it up close, you will change your mind. Have a look:

Hmmm, stunning yes? It’s sexy, fierce, and totally gorgeous. The fabulous strappies are from YSL, called the Baobab. As you can see, it comes with an interesting silhouette, one that would make you say it’s a wedge but also isn’t. These orange-grey-olive python covered sandals feature 5.5 inches worth of heels, 2 inch thick platforms, and crisscross straps that go all the way up to the ankles. Indeed it has a chunky bottom but that’s easily offset by the thinness of those straps:

What do you think so far?

If you like the sandals, the one place where you can purchase it online would be Net-A-Porter. A pair will cost you a whopping USD1,995. Very pricey indeed. If you can afford it and you’re willing to splurge, feel free to shop away. For those of you who want the look for less alternative, I’m sorry, I have none for you today although I did attempt to search. That said, in this world of fast fashion, I’m pretty sure a knock-off will surface in a month of two so you just wait.
