Shoe designers have been doing mesh for quite some time now but for some reason, I can’t help but associate mesh with the 80s. Especially when it’s the type of mesh with the larger holes in its weave, like seen on Emma Watson’s D&G suede and mesh peep toe booties and particularly on Cameron Diaz’s Jimmy Choo Lavish mesh sandals.
But when I came across this ‘Samantha’ open weave mesh pump from Bourne, the 80s was surprisingly NOT the first thing to come to my mind. It must be the sprinkling of crystals, the imminent arrival of fall/winter season or a combination of both, but the first thing I thought of was just how uh-mazing these would look at a future holiday party.
Check ’em out:
Can’t you see this with a purple satin cocktail dress, an LBD or maybe a siren red number? The amount of crystal embellishments makes this pump festive enough but also doesn’t overpower the classic pointy-toed stiletto design of the shoe.
I’m also drawn to the brushed steel finish on the 3 1/2″-high metal heel. They could’ve easily used a shiny metal heel but the brushed finish gives it a more refined sense of elegance.
Glitter might be ruling the fashion trends now but crystals will always hold its own special place in my sparkle-loving heart!
This crystal-studded mesh pump also comes in this grey color:
I hope they come out with more party colors of this pump!
