We know Nicholas Kirkwood for his strong lines, sharp silhouettes and cutting edge shoe designs. So when we saw these rounder wedge booties with gently swaying fringes among the new shoe arrivals at Neiman Marcus, we can’t help but think that Nicholas Kirkwood is showing us his softer side:
There are still plenty of so-sharp-they-can-cut-you styles in Nicholas Kirkwood’s Autum/Winter 2011 collection — in fact, majority of the shoes are like that — so these somewhat chubby wedge booties really stick out. It’s sort of cute and adorable isn’t it? But those are adjectives we’d never thought we’d ever use to describe Nicholas Kirkwood shoes.
It’s a full-figured shoe but the Nicholas Kirkwood fringed wedge booties can still pack a wallop. For one, the rich purple suede is so royal you almost feel like bowing to it and two, that 6″-high wedge heel is no joke! Sure, it’s balanced out by a 1 3/4″-high platform but that still makes it a 4 1/4″ equivalent.
When we think about it, Nicholas Kirkwood’s soft side isn’t so soft actually. And at a $1,540.00 price tag, his fringed wedge booties can still really hurt!
Here are all three colors of these booties:
The white and black leather versions aren’t available online as of writing but they are priced at a much higher $1,720.00.
As mentioned in the second sentence of this post, the purple suede ones are available at Neiman Marcus.
