Like or Dislike? The Giuseppe Zanotti E26144 Peep Toe Pump

I am a little perplexed by Giuseppe Zanotti today. On one hand, the Italian designer continues to create the most gorgeous shoes in the market, but on the other, he goes ahead and comes up with a style that is surprising and a little unusual.

For example, check out the E26144 Suede Peep Toe Pump, a new style from Zanotti that I came across while browsing through Zappos. I must say, this shoe looks a little odd in form; somewhat unconventional and somewhat similar too hooker heels but not exactly as bad. I can’t say it’s not sexy, because it IS, though I honestly find the silhouette a tad overdone. Plus check out that platform – not quite like an island, and not quite like a recessed platform either. More hidden, slightly angular, and very, very thick:

Not exactly sure if Zanotti was channeling Louboutin’s popular “Daffodile” pump when he designed it, but I’d say it’s a not-so-attractive rendition if he was. Yes, it definitely has some retro appeal, but can you appreciate the overall look? Would you wear it?

The chunky platform is a good 2.5 inches thick, while the heel is at a high 5.5. That gives you an actual 3 inches to walk in. That doesn’t sounds so bad; in fact, it sounds comfortable, but it’s actually the appearance of the shoe that may stop you from wearing it.

So again, what do you think? Would you care to grab it if money was no concern? It retails at a high USD795 at Zappos if you want it. A black version (Nero Suede), is also available:
