As much as I want to love ballet flats, I just cannot ever seem to look good in them.
I know it’s because of their archlessness and rounded toes — the winning combination for giving us women stumpy legs. I really, really do want the comfort and cuteness of ballet flats but I just cannot escape what Victoria Beckham describes as the “golf club” look.
Consider yourself lucky if you can look good in rounded toe ballet flats without any effort. If you’re like me, then pay attention because our featured shoe pick of the day is for you!
Check out this ‘Eternnal’ ballet flat from Steven by Steve Madden at Amazon. You can immediately see from the proportions of the slim lines, the narrow width and the pointed toe that this is one ballet flat that WON’T give us stumpy legs:
Steven by Steve Madden ‘Eternnal’ pointed flats in red nubuck, $71.99 to $119.00
Okay, so these flats are a knockoff of the McQ studded pointy pumps but this is one of those times when the steal looks better than the real. The rounded toe on the McQ pump has a dated 80s look to them while the ‘Eternnal’ looks chic and modern. They’re also going for as low as $71.99 right now compared to the $370 for the McQs!
I obviously love these flats for their flattering and not-so-pointy pointed toe but something also has to be said about the spike studs at the back of the heel. It’s just the right amount of stud sprinkling that it’s fashionable but also not so much that you’d throw these at the back of your closet once the stud trend dies down.
The ones above are the wear all year round colors; here are the summery ones:
