Came across this Philipp Plein ‘Sparkle’ pump today and like almost all things shiny, it instantly drew us in.
It’s covered in Swarovski crystals, has a skullcross detail at the bottom of the heel and ooh, it’s so sparkly. It’s the kind of shoe that makes your eyes go wide as soon as you set your eyes on it but prepare for your eyes to pop out of your head once you hear the price tag — it’s a steep $1,980:
Today’s Shoe Vs. Shoe is going to different from the usual in the sense that as much as we’re drawn to the Philipp Plein ‘Sparkle’ pump, it’s design isn’t really so extraordinary. Certainly not two thousand dollars extraordinary.
In fact, we didn’t have to exert much effort to find a very similar shoe, this ‘Show You’ pump from Enzo Angiolini:
Enzo Angiolini ‘Show You’ Crystal and Suede Peep Toe Pump, $35.57 – $155.75 at Amazon
The crystals are most likely not Swarovski but it’s just as sparkly, platformed and peep-toed. It’s also a fraction of the price of the Philipp Plein pump.
You can’t say the Angiolini pump is a knockoff because the design itself is typical.
When it comes to sparkly shoes like these, would you rather go for the real thing (the Swarovski crystals) or the substitute?
If you had to pay for it OR are able to get it for free, which would you rather?
