The 2013 BET Awards took place on Sunday, June 30, at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. This red carpet event means another thing for us, though … shoe spotting! And, yes, we’ve seen a lot of interesting heels, and some of those that we’ve included here aren’t the usual red carpet heels.
Check them out below, and share your thoughts with us. Who do you think had the best heels?
Brandy in Privileged “Kempton” Booties
Brandy Norwood, who was one of the presenters of the night, looked striking in her nude embroidered Michael Cinco dress, which features pearl accents and a peplum detail. We think that not many will love this dress, but what about her booties? Those nude shoes look eye-catching as well, but they’re the type that some people may like and some may not.
They’re made of synthetic leather, and they obviously have corset-like lacing on the outer sides and on the vamps. While the lace design and the 1 1/2-inch-high platforms are already enough to grab attention, these booties even have striking silver spiked studs, too, that run all the way up the 6 inch heels.

We couldn’t find the nude version online, but black and mauve renditions are available.
Eve in Sergio Rossi “Antiope” Sandals
Salmon and blue colors do complement each other. It’s what Eve showed us when she took to the red carpet in her salmon-colored bodycon dress and strappy blue heels. Don’t you just love the pop of color here? And, by the way, you might have also noticed her oversized accessories, which also rocked her getup.
Anyway, if goddesses existed this modern day, they would surely pick these sandals. The caged, strappy design has a Grecian feel; aside from blue, they also feature gold-tone details, including on the 3 inch heels.
Although she lost to Nicki Minaj in the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award, she is surely one of the best dressed (or best heeled perhaps?) attendees that night.

Laila Ali in Jimmy Choo “Besso” Sandals
Laila Ali showed off her toned curves in a black body-hugging dress. Because it’s just a simple dress, pairing it with the right shoes and accessories can make it look elegant. Just see how she did it. She wore gold-tone accessories, and her heels were in black and gold, a combination that never fails to provide instant sophistication.
Her Art Deco Jimmy Choos are the “Besso” sandals, which feature contrasting black grained leather and gold-tone mirror metallic straps. They have high-cut vamps that are connected to the ankle straps, which then create a modern geometric effect.

Aside from black and gold, there’s also another version of these heels called the “Berlin,” which is in light bronze. See below.

Porscha Coleman in Make Me Chic Dior-01 Sandals
Porscha Coleman flaunted her curves in a fitted long-sleeved dress, which features revealing mesh inserts. And while it’s really striking, her heels got us hooked, too.
Her shoes are crafted only from man-made material in black, and they feature ankle cuffs with triple buckled straps. Although the cuffs and 2 inch platforms already add edge to this pair, the silver spiked heels, which measure about 6.25 inches, make them even edgier and very modern.

Porscha was wearing the Dior-01 ankle-cuff spiked platform heels from Make Me Chic, where they’re also available in two more color versions.

Erica Hubbard in Christian Louboutin “Lady Spiked” Pumps
Let’s Stay Together star Erica Hubbard was also present at the event, and she showed up in a shimmery ensemble. She was wearing a very modern-looking dress that’s embellished with gold and silver studs! To complement this outfit, she paired it with studded pumps by Christian Louboutin.
While we normally see leopard-print pumps with spiked heels, these pumps feature the other way around. They have blue suede upper with metallic spiked studs, while the 5 3/4 inch heels and 1 1/4 inch platforms feature leopard-print dyed calf hair. Interesting, right? Peep toes with metallic leather trims as well as the signature red soles finish these feminine yet fierce pumps.

Amber Rose in Versace Strappy Sandals
Amber Rose was clearly a stunner in her bright yellow dress by Versace. Besides her dress, though, her heels also managed to catch our attention. Well, she was actually in head-to-toe Versace.
Her sandals may be simple in black leather, but the way the straps are designed is edgy. They have double straps across the toes and triple asymmetrical straps that seem woven through the straps at the sides. Moreover, they feature bronze-tone platforms and stiletto heels, which measure about 0.5 and 5.3 inches, respectively.

Sevyn Streeter in Gucci “Victoire” Sandals
Sevyn Streeter added a pop of color to her hot white ensemble by wearing a pair of red (or pink) sandals by Gucci. Although they’re classic in silhouette, the ankle cuffs with oversized buckles make them that eye-catching!

India.Arie in Alaia Platform Sandals
India.Arie performed on stage at the event. When she arrived, she was spotted in a pink tight-fitting dress and a matching turban. She finished her look with a pair of black laser-cut sandals by Alaia.
The intricate laser-cut design with nude inserts is what makes the heels striking, in addition to the 2-inch-high platforms and about 7 inch towering heels, which also feature the same design.
