Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock both hit the red carpet on Saturday evening at the 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala. They shared the red carpet with numerous other celebrities, including Lupita Nyong’o, Naomie Harris, and Camila Alves.
Accepting the Spotlight Award for her role in the new film August: Osage County, which will open later this month, Julia donned a black lace dress with embellished bell sleeves and hemline from Gucci. While fashion critics fell in love with the dress, they almost unanimously commented that it made her look older despite all the sequins and animal print.
Julia was joined on the red carpet by her good friend, Tom Hanks, who received the Chairman’s Award for his work in the films Captain Phillips and Saving Mr. Banks.

It seems like just about everyone received an award in Palm Springs. Sandra Bullock did not walk away empty-handed either and got the Desert Palm Achievement Award for an Actress for her work in the hit movie Gravity.
The 49-year-old actress donned a two-tone (pink and orange) short-sleeve fitted dress from Australian designer Alex Perry’s Resort 2014 collection. You may recall that she wore a dress from the same designer in Venice last year. Sandra accessorized with a cylinder Jimmy Choo clutch and pointy-toe Brian Atwood Cassandra pumps in nude patent leather (available at Farfetch). Last year, we featured Amanda Seyfried wearing the red version.
