Once mostly known as that brand that charges thousands of dollars for holey t-shirts, Balmain under Olivier Rousteing’s command has now become the go-to label for glitzy, blinged out, and intricately embellished party pieces. Balmain footwear that were once noted mostly for their out-of-this-world prices have changed their reputation, too. In the shoe world, Balmain is now synonymous with elaborately crafted booties that — dare we say it — are almost Alaia-like both in their intricacy and their ability to take our breaths away.
Balmain has gone a decidedly less glitzy route for fall 2014, having sent African-safari-inspired clothing in black, military green, and natural-hued animal prints down the runway. But the shoes, oh the shoes, are as detailed as always, with a tight knotting design as well as sharp and super-slim bamboo heels. Not exactly appropriate for fall and winter? Tell that to Rihanna, the Kardashian and Jenner sisters, and a slew of models and musicians who are sure to snap these shoes up along with the rest of Balmain’s strong following.
