We don’t know what happened at the Harpers Bazaar ICONS event held at NY’s The Plaza Hotel on Wednesday evening. The party, thrown by fashion tastemaker Carine Roitfeld, should’ve been a gathering of the industry’s crème de la crème, instead became a battle between two of possibly the worst dressed this week!
Katy Perry had us shaking our heads no when she arrived sporting an aging red wig styled in old-fashioned side-parted waves. Her sparkly gold Saint Laurent gown with a thigh-high slit threw us back to the tacky side of the ’80s. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she had to finish with awful gold Saint Laurent sandals with ugly leopard-print platforms. The only good thing we can say about her look is that at least she’s staying true to the matronly diva style that she seems to have adapted recently.

We were sorely mistaken when we thought it couldn’t get any worse than Katy. Rita Ora soon showed up wearing an atrocious custom Prada sheer-paneled gown that looked like it was going for sexy baroque Morticia Addams. The embellished bra top and sleeve cuffs we could get behind, but not the out-of-place blue velvet collar sticking out like a sore thumb. At least Rita’s lace-up sandals were on point, just like in her last head-to-toe red Moschino ensemble.
