Did you know that artists usually don’t own their red carpet outfits? They’re usually on loan from designers. An exception at the 2016 Grammy Awards? Mama’s Song singer Carrie Underwood.

The country artist arrived at the 2016 Grammy Awards with some bling around her neck, crediting her husband for gifting her the piece for Valentine’s Day.

Almost six years earlier, she released “Mama’s Song,” which was co-written by her along with Kara DioGuardi, Marti Frederiksen, and Luke Laird. Released in November 2010, the song was the fourth and final single from her third studio album, Play On.

Telling the story of a woman who meets her true love and moves away from her mom, it has not surprisingly become a popular song to play at weddings. Carrie was 27 years old when the song was released on September 13, 2010.

Nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the 54th Grammy Awards, country music songwriter Luke Robert Laird told The Boot how the song was written. The same songwriters also wrote “Undo It,” the third single from the same album.

“We wrote this song on the same day as “Undo It.” We were in Los Angeles at Sunset Marquis Hotel … I got this call from Carrie’s management, and they were like, “Hey, do you want to go out LA and write with Carrie?” I was like, “Well, yeah. I’d write with Carrie in Dothan, Ala., if I have to!” [Laughs] She was already booked to write with Kara and Marty; I don’t know why I got invited, maybe just because Carrie and I had written together before and she felt comfortable with it or something,” Baird said.

“I think a lot of girls around her age are thinking about getting married,” Laird added in an interview with The Associated Press. “I think that was probably easier for her to write — not that she’s thinking about getting married. I wouldn’t know.”

The music video for Mama’s Song was filmed in Nashville and features her husband Mike Fisher and her mother Carole Underwood (née Shatswell).

At the 2016 Grammy Awards, Emily Osment’s lookalike paired her hubby’s Valentine’s Day gift from jewelry designer Johnathan Arndt with a black satin Nicolas Jebran gown.
