Many questioned Sarah Jessica Parker’s Met Gala outfit, accusing her of not adhering to the strict “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” theme.
While most of the attendees arrived in futuristic-looking outfits, SJP turned up in a custom Hamilton-inspired white pantsuit by Monse. It wasn’t exactly ultramodern, but the technology behind the design actually defined the theme of this year’s gala.
The 51-year-old actress defended her choice of outfit..
“I research it,” she explained. “I go to exhaustive detail to understand the meaning of the theme.” “Always welcome thoughts but I’m stickler for the theme and pay close attention to what it means. Every year with great consideration, research and conviction. The understanding of man and machine, how they intersect, when and why is what we considered.”
Jessica wore a white crop top with a nude lace-up corset at the back and tulle long sleeves. She teamed it with a pair of white capri pants and a matching coat with a cutout back, also by Monse.

The “Sex and the City” star didn’t skimp on the accessories. She styled the all-white look with a selection of rings, a pair of earrings and a vintage-looking pendant necklace. Sarah Jessica styled her blue SJP “Rampling” pumps with brooches from her own closet to add more bling to her ensemble.
She rounded out her look with smokey eyes and center-parted tousled waves.
