The Disney Channel has launched a ton of acting careers… but it has also launched several musical careers, too.

Demi Lovato is one of the Disney tweens to successfully transition from the Disney Channel to Radio Disney. The “Cool For the Summer” singer has shown many times that she knows how to carry a tune.

While she just appears for five minutes as Katiana Lindsdóttir, winner of Söngvakeppnin, in the 2020 American musical comedy film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, fans loved her ballad “In The Mirror.”

American songwriter Savan Harish Kotecha told Variety how he convinced Lovato to appear in the movie.

We’ve worked together since 2010. When they were talking about a pop star, I suggested Demi and she said yes immediately. We were trying to write that song and we called Jörgen Elofsson, who wrote for Britney Spears (“Sometimes”) and “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger” for Kelly Clarkson. I said, “There’s one character you could be perfect for.” He sent in a demo for “In the Mirror” and it was just the perfect blend because it matched her voice. It was what she needed to sing as that character. She’s so good in the movie.

“I think it’s really beautiful that there’s something like Eurovision that brings people together, especially in this day in age when there’s so much hate in the world. When you’re able to turn [the devastation of] a war into something positive and bring people together through the universal language of music, it is beautiful, powerful and inspiring,” Lovato said in an interview about the Eurovision Song Contest, which has been held annually since 1956.

In June 2016, the then-23-year-old belted out the longest “Stone Cold” note we’ve ever heard her sing during her appearance on “Good Morning America” in New York.

Demi wore black jeans with a peplum leather moto jacket by Alexander McQueen. She paired her ensemble with the Giuseppe Zanotti crystal-embellished “Venere” wavy sandals.

On her “Good Morning America” appearance, Demi brought out surprise guest Brad Paisley to perform with her on stage.

The singer sang a heart-wrenching version of “Stone Cold,” during which she sustained the longest note we’ve heard from her yet.

The Giuseppe Zanotti “Venere” sandals come in white and black crystal versions. You can check out both pairs at Farfetch.
