Our social media feeds were abuzz with photos of with Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, as she went from one gorgeous dress to another during her recent Canadian visit. Amidst the styling chaos, one person dared to discreetly challenge Kate to a who-wore-it-better showdown: Emmy Rossum.

Kate wore a pair of red suede Gianvito Rossi pumps
Kate wore a red “Finella” dress from Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. The dress had a beautiful overlap detail at the bodice, flaring out into a subtly pleated midi skirt. The dress costs a whopping $1,715.
The royalty styled her dress with Queen Elizabeth’s maple leaf brooch, a Jenny Packham “Casa Pony” clutch, Soru baroque pearl double sided earrings, and a pair of Gianvito Rossi suede pumps in red.

As it turns out, Kate wasn’t the only one in need of the gorgeous Preen “Finella” dress. Emmy Rossum wore the exact same dress to her bridal shower around the same time that Kate wore hers to her Canadian trip. Emmy wore her dress with minimal jewelry and nude sandals.
So, who wore it better?
