Janelle Monáe jazzed up the blue carpet at the 2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards in a monochromatic striped ensemble. She posed around at the event, pausing to take a few photos with fellow actress Kerry Washington and “Moonlight” co-star Naomie Harris.

The 31-year-old singer and actress went geometric in a mixed-pattern Salvatore Ferragamo ensemble from the brand’s Fall 2016 collection. The outfit kept to Janelle’s signature black -and-white look by pairing a houndstooth printed dress with a striped coat. She also kept up the motif with the “Gehry” clutch from Emm Kuo and a geometric manicure.
Janelle swept her hair up and decorated it with a bit of gold leaf detail. She added a pop of color with bold pink lips and accessorized with Piaget diamonds.

Janelle finished her look off with the “Tudor Bal” embellished sandals from Christian Louboutin that we’ve also spotted on Blake Lively. The shoes seemed to be out of place, but oddly, we don’t mind it.
These black suede sandals feature gold-tone pyramid studs and pearl embellishments. The “Moonlight” actress also attended the 10th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards. She joined host Gabrielle Union and fellow actress Yvonne Orji at the star-studded event.
Janelle received the Breakthrough Award in a two-piece suit from Barbara Bui’s resort 2017 collection. Her white blazer featured contrasting black panels, while her white trousers had black and yellow accents. She finished off her look with a stylish updo and a clutch from Jimmy Choo.
