The internet can be a cruel place. Because it gives everybody 24/7 access to celebrities and the anonymity to make consequence-free comments, sometimes, people take advantage. Lady Gaga was on the receiving end of those negative comments after her Super Bowl performance, when she was body shamed for showing off a little bit of a belly.

Lady Gaga’s entire Super Bowl LI halftime look was created by fashion extraordinaire Donatella Versace for Atelier Versace. The artist’s wardrobe consisted of three looks — all custom made — which started off with an embroidered and fully beaded bodysuit.
The pop icon later threw on a fully embellished copper jacket with gold spikes at the shoulder. For her final look, Gaga removed everything to show off a pair of sequined hot pants with a matching cropped sculptural top. Gaga wore a pair of custom boots that matched her first look throughout the entire performance.
The pop icon is scrutinized by the internet for her belly flab.
After Gaga changed into her final look, the internet exploded with comments about the artist’s supposed gut. In defense of Gaga, the hot pants were a bit too small and they cut off her waist at the fleshiest part. Only a tiny population of women could survive those sequined knickers.
Regardless, Gaga put on a show that would make it hard for next year’s performer to top. Not only did Gaga spoil us with visual delights, but the pop icon can actually belt out a legit tune.
