In the 2004 American comedy film White Chicks, Busy Philipps played a supporting role as Karen Googlestein, a friend of Tiffany and Brittany, the socialites who the Wayans Brothers’ characters impersonate as part of their FBI investigation.

When the film was theatrically released in the United States on June 23, 2004, Busy Philipps was 24 years old. Two days later, on June 25, 2004, she celebrated her 25th birthday.

Despite the film’s initial negative reviews, it has gained a cult following. In 2019, Busy Philipps discussed her role in the movie during an appearance on the podcast Absolutely Not! hosted by comedian Heather McMahan.

Philipps revealed that she played the character described as the “fat girl” in the movie. However, upon further reflection, she realized that her character was not actually overweight and suggested that this might have been part of the joke.

“To be totally honest with you, I think I was a size 8,” she said. Philipps went on to suggest that the movie would not be made in the same way if it were produced today.

“To be totally honest with you, I think I was a size 8. Upon further reflection, maybe that was the joke, that she wasn’t really fat but that they are just so horrible…That movie wouldn’t be made now.”

Her comments highlight the changing cultural landscape and growing sensitivity towards body shaming and representation in Hollywood.
