It’s like the hardest thing in the world! [Laughs] I mean, you can ask Julie, anyone who stands next to Sofia feels like a little person. I mean, I feel like such a little person to begin with next to anybody, but Sofia’s just so gorgeous, and Julie is so beautiful. It’s hard, but we all have our own styles. In August 2023, Sarah Hyland opened up about her health struggles while filming Modern Family, including how producers insisted she wear high heels despite her extreme pain. Born with kidney dysplasia, Sarah has had over 16 surgeries, including two kidney transplants.
On Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s podcast Dinner’s On Me, she recalled being in pain from gout caused by dialysis, but still required to wear heels for scenes.
“I had gout!… I was on dialysis… it was wild,” Sarah said. “They put me in high heels… They had not established my outfit yet and they insisted that I was wearing heels. It was the most excruciating pain.”
