Every now and then, Blake Lively surprises me by wearing outstanding fashion pieces that I normally wouldn’t expect her to go for. Most often than not, we usually see the Gosssip Girl beauty in classic and not-so-risky looking accessories. But check out the sandals she wore to Rihanna’s concert last August 13, now that’s a pair worthy of good attention.

Come to think of it, her outfit is really more blah than bang but with the sandals,  she looks chic. The sandals are from Chanel’s 2010 Resort Collection, as seen on model Irina Kulikova below.

For some reason though, I can’t seem to find an online retailer selling it so if you want it, you will have to personally visit the Chanel boutique in your area.

British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood shares over 200 fabulous shoes from her own archives to the public in an exhibit which charts the evolution of her unconventional, trailblazing style over the last four decades.

Entitled “Vivienne Westwood Shoes: An Exhibition 1973-2010″, the exhibit includes shoes like the cult 1981 Pirate Boots and the insane 10-inch high Mock-Croc Elevated Gillies platform shoes that made Naomi Campbell famously fall flat on her butt in a 1993 Vivienne Westwood fashion show.

This is a can’t-miss exhibit for shoe lovers in London. Teleportation powers would be really useful right about now!

The exhibit is on display at the Selfridges Ultralounge in London from August 26 to September 22. Entrance is absolutely free.

As I am writing this article, I am also trying to steal quick glances at the TV,  Miss Universe is on you see.  I guess it’s a good thing that I’m watching because it gave me a topic to write on – Nina Footwear.

Nina is officially Miss Universe famous. It’s the official footwear sponsor for this year’s pageant. I was able to catch a look at the sandals they provided to the beauties for their swimsuit showcase and it looked a lot like this pair from Nina called Tuesday, except, the ones they wore had black platforms and heels, a pewter colored upper, and only 2 straps crossing at the front instead of 4.

Maybe Nina created something exclusive for the pageant or maybe it’s a really fresh one that’s not out yet because I couldn’t find it in the Nina website, nor was I able to find it at Zappos, Shoebuy, or Shoes.com.

Thandie Newton hardly ever comes out in celebrity gossip sites so these pictures of her shopping in London last Wednesday are a rare treat:

She’s one of my favorite faces to see on screen so seeing her looking this good during her down time is such a thrill for me.

Thandie Newton accentuated her mostly grey shopping outfit with splashes of brown on her shoulder bag and her wedges. I love how she strapped her wedges over the hem of her jeans! :

I tried ID’ing Thandie’s gladiator wedges but the closest I came to spotting them exactly were these Gladiator Platforms from French designer Barbara Bui:

They’re not wedges and the brown color on these is darker, but the braided straps, the cutouts and even the number of eyelets on the side of the vamp are the same and everything.

Could it be that Thandie Newton has a limited wedge version of the Barbara Bui Gladiator Platforms? Or could she be wearing (gasp! … well, no, not really) knockoffs?

Speaking of knockoffs, these Bounty Platform Sandals from Chinese Laundry are a close copy of Thandie Newton’s wedges, or more similarly, of the Barbara Bui Gladiator Platforms:

How interesting that the two pairs of shoes that caught my eye today both turn out to be Rock & Republics.

First up is Chloe Bridges who was a vision in white at the Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam premiere held at the Lincoln Center in NYC yesterday.

Her heavy metal, chain-strapped Rock & Republic platform sandals stood in vivid contrast against her demure, cap-sleeved, white satin dress, but she tied everything up together with layers of metallic bangles and bracelets on her left arm:

How lucky can one woman get?

Sienna Miller was seen out on a double date with two of the hottest men in Hollywood last Sunday, namely Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. Of course, Sienna Miller was really there with Jude Law and RDJ was there with his wife Susan, but still, Sienna Miller technically had dinner with both Jude Law and RDJ that night. As if that wasn’t enough to be envious about, Sienna Miller did all of this in a very enviable designer outfit:

… Or if you want to get technical about it, it’s all about the heel counter. New shoe styles that are coming out are showing that right now, it really IS all about the heel and the craze has now crept to all over the back of shoes.

I know, I know I’ve been featuring a lot of  spiked, studded, and all sorts of variations of bedazzled shoes here recently and I’m sorry but here’s even MORE shoes in that category. If this is your new shoe fixation too then I have nothing to be sorry about but if not, then indulge us for a minute and check out these new beaded, studded, bejeweled, spangled and even feathered shoes that showcase this new trend the best:

Let’s start with the shoe brand Sam Edelman. Sam Edelman has at least three of their shoe styles featuring beautiful heel detailing, particularly their Quantam Booties that look so exquisitely crafted.

Gwen Stefani’s label L.A.M.B. has also jumped on this trend and they’re the first I’ve seen to add feathers and paillettes to the the back of heels.

Gucci also has their high-end take on this trend. The round gold studs they attached to the back of the heel are beautiful but I think I prefer the fine detailing on the Sam Edelmans or even the quirky feathers on the L.A.M.B. shoes over these.

I was browsing through Shopbop’s latest inventory and  was immensely pleased with what I found – interesting and unusual shoes you can wear for fall (and maybe winter depending on where you live).

Some of these shoes are head turners while others are subtly quirky, but one thing is for sure, each one offers something unique, be it a tiny little detail or a pretty obvious one.

And because these shoes are designer pieces, best to make sure that wallet  of yours is fully stocked with bills (or that card fully open for credit) before deciding on a pair. After which, you can go ahead and enjoy shopping…
