LeAnn Rimes Leaves LAX in Lanvin Halter Sliced Wedge Sandals

LeAnn Rimes has now become one of those celebrities we can expect to be wearing a pair of noteworthy shoes. At this point, I think it’s safe to say that she’s up there with Gwyneth Paltrow when it comes to fabulous shoe-wearing.

Her recent candid shots at LAX taken just last Sunday prove this. The 28-year-old country crooner was all ready for the beach in a pink romper and a white cropped blazer, but she still didn’t get complacent with the footwear and wore these nearly 6-inches high woven slingback wedges with her summery outfit:

Regular beach-y flats or sandals just won’t do for LeAnn Rimes!

The leather-covered platform on these are over an inch thick while the wood-paneled wedge heels are 5 3/10″ high.

They could’ve done away with the brown grosgrain ribbon woven into the straps but according to the description, that detail supposedly “announces Lanvin design”. Not really sure how true that is but you can get these Lanvin wedge sandals for $1,415.00 at Bergdorf Goodman to find out.

YNS Does a Double Take on Anna Paquin at the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Anna Paquin loves to wear black heels on the red carpet so I didn’t think much of it when she wore these seemingly simple chunky black velvet pumps to the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party last Sunday:

But it was that last picture in the photo series above that made me reconsider and do a double take. We’re trained to spot even the most minute shoe details here on Your Next Shoes and that hint of red peeking out from behind Anna Paquin’s heel was a promise of much better things beneath the surface.

I wasn’t disappointed. My quick research brought me these from-the-back pictures of Anna Paquin at the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and as soon as I laid eyes on these, I immediately regretted my initial disregard for Anna Paquin:

Anna Paquin’s pumps are the Brian Atwood Donna ribbon-embellished platform pumps from the Fall 2010 collection. The black patent leather version of these retailed online for as much as over $700 when they were available.

I’m currently obsessing over finding who makes the black metallic wedge booties Ashley Tisdale wore for her appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last September 7th:

I’ve perused style blogs and websites, combed through fashion shows, tried all permutations of the keywords “Ashley Tisdale wedges Jimmy Fallon” on search engines but nobody seems to know who they’re by!

Here is a close-up shot:

The most relevant result I found while searching for these was that Anne Heche also wore the silver color of these shoes for her appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman last August 23rd:

Only Anne Heche’s dress was ID’ed (Zac Posen Fall 2010 collection) so that really wasn’t a big help. This would’ve made a great “who wore it better” post if only I knew who these shoes are by!

How interesting that the two pairs of shoes that caught my eye today both turn out to be Rock & Republics.

First up is Chloe Bridges who was a vision in white at the Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam premiere held at the Lincoln Center in NYC yesterday.

Her heavy metal, chain-strapped Rock & Republic platform sandals stood in vivid contrast against her demure, cap-sleeved, white satin dress, but she tied everything up together with layers of metallic bangles and bracelets on her left arm:

Shoe Versus Shoe: Rock & Republic Nikki Pumps Vs. Luichiny Fanta See Pumps

Okay everyone, how about we play a game? Just a little test on how well you can inspect shoes, maybe a test on how well you know your brands, and some people might even say a test on “how great is your taste” in footwear.

So – can you guess which of these two are the $300 shoes and which are the $70 ones? Logos have been edited out:

So which is which? No peeking and definitely no clicking on the links yet! The answer is below.

Got your guesses? Here’s the answer:

The first pair , the top shoe, are the Luichinys. The second pair are the Rock & Republics.

Kudos to you if you got it right!

Don’t worry if you didn’t; I’ve been writing about these brands for quite a while now and I still got them confused. It was the shiny steel heel on the Luichinys that got me fooled! I’m sure the high quality leather on R&Rs are just divine and all, but it’s the kind of thing you gotta see in person to appreciate. Maybe I would’ve guessed right if Luichiny made theirs out of faux leather (no way can they make it out of real leather and sell it at just a $69.95 price point), but it’s such a good copy in faux suede that I would have a hard time even then.

I know, I know, some of you might say that I should be appalled that Luichiny made a total knockoff of the Rock & Republic pumps but hey, they’re over $250 cheaper and my wallet sings songs of joy at that much money saved. I also happen to like faux suede on shoes – they’re just so much easier to care for and I don’t have to mind my shoes all the time while wearing them.

Does that justify the design stealing? No, probably not. But it does give us more choices. It sounds heavy but it’s up to us which choice is right for us, and that should also apply to shoes.

Trend Report: Shoes for Fall/Winter 2010-2011

This post is long overdue. I’ve been meaning to write it but just never got around to it until today. If you’re a shoe addict and you watch trends like a hawk, then you probably already know what I’m going to write. If not, then good for me, because that means I’ll be giving you some useful information today.

Shoe trends for Fall/Winter 2010-2011 are characterized by a lot of things – some new, some current, and some old that are making a comeback. Let’s start with the trend that is my eternal favorite:

Pointy Toe Shoes

I love pumps with pointy toes. I am very glad they’re back. I think it’s feminine and sexy. Stella McCartney and Prada are just some of the brands bringing back this look.

Of course, pointy toe pumps would not be perfect without stiletto heels, which is why this type of heel is hot once more. Hurray again! Sexy footwear is back!

Ah well, I don’t think we will be seeing the last of chunky heels anytime soon. Most women after all, prefer comfort and safety rather than the hard core sexiness you get from killer stiletto heels.
