Eric Rutberg’s ‘Vallanta’ Will Make You Fall in Love with Gladiator Sandals All Over Again

It’s pretty clear to us that the gladiator style is here to stay. But despite its elevated status, it’s been a while since it’s made us look its way.

That was until this ‘Vallanta’ sandal from San Francisco-based designer Eric Rutberg came along and suddenly, we find ourselves not only looking at the gladiator sandal but actually falling in love with it all over again.

The ‘Vallanta’ is really just an old Mexican huarache sandal style placed on a nothing-new stacked heel and platform, but once combined together, the effect is surprisingly refreshing, cool and just downright amazing:

This sandal is part of Eric Rutberg’s debut Spring 2012 collection called Eric Rutberg Transparent. It may be Rutberg’s first ever collection but it’s definitely not the first time he’s designed shoes. You know some of our favorites like L.A.M.B., Badgley Mischka and Betsey Johnson? Eric Rutberg has designed for them all. Now he’s decided to go after his own personal vision with this eponymous line and we can clearly see just how much he contributed to make those other well-known brands shine.

Eric Rutberg is one designer who is also a firm believer in color and these other green and red colors of the ‘Vallanta’ sandal give us glimpses of it:
