Lucy Liu arrived looking all ready for her closeup at the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ studios in NYC yesterday. Her Proenza Schouler Spring 2014 dress was impeccably pleated. Her ponytail had not one hair out of place, and her natural makeup was flawless.

As perfect as her look was, the American actress wasn’t too happy with her Giuseppe Zanotti gladiator platform sandals. How do we know? Because they weren’t the same shoes Lucy Liu had on during her interview with David Letterman.

Ditching her first shoe choice entirely, Lucy Liu kept to the tie-front peep-toe pumps she changed into even after her guesting. The following paparazzi video gives us a better view of her second shoe choice:

We agree with Lucy’s decision to switch shoes. The Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, although having the same edge as Lucy’s Proenza Schouler dress, are way too heavy. They also look dated not only because they’re a style from way back 2009 but also because gladiators aren’t on-trend right now. We much prefer Lucy’s second shoe choice. They look lighter without the platform and suit Lucy’s feminine style more.

Do you think Lucy Liu was right about switching shoes before going on David Letterman?
