Natalie Portman’s transformation as Mighty Thor in “Thor: Love and Thunder” involved more than just getting physically fit.

A combination of skilled training and movie magic was employed to portray a character who stands 6 feet tall, despite her short height.

While a trainer helped the Oscar-winning actress tone her arms, the film’s production team relied on clever techniques to create the illusion that Portman could be on par with her 6-foot-3 co-star, Chris Hemsworth.

Additionally, she needed to appear taller than Tessa Thompson, who stands almost 5 feet 4 inches tall.

Director Taika Waititi shared with Insider the behind-the-scenes strategy utilized to achieve this effect. They constructed a series of raised platforms surrounding the set.

First, they blocked out the scene, determining the precise positions for the actors so that the entire layout was clear to the crew.

Once that was done, they built an elevated platform for Portman to walk on, allowing her to reach the desired height and maintain the illusion throughout the scenes.
