Katie Holmes is a bit late to embrace the boho cocktail trend, but luckily, this is a look that defies time. The actress made a red carpet appearance amidst her busy mom duties, and boy, did she let her hair down. Literally.

The mom-of-one stepped out of her on-the-go street style and into a red-carpet-ready outfit for TAO Group’s grand opening in Los Angeles.

Katie ditched her usual jeans and flats, opting instead to show off her lovely legs in a mini dress by Isabel Marant.

The black tunic dress from the French fashion designer is an updated silhouette of the baby doll dress, focusing more on structure than volume. The chest is adorned with beautiful embroidery.

The 38-year-old finished her look with Tamara Mellon’s “Frontline” sandals. The crowd favorite did a great job elongating Katie’s legs, though we would have preferred a black pair for this outfit.

We also hope Katie will start taking better care of her feet.

Katie traded her usual bun for shiny straight locks. Her simple blowout look complemented her nude eyes, rosy cheeks, and rose-tinted lips.

We don’t hate this look, but we don’t love it either. This dress was cute but did nothing to emphasize Katie’s slim physique. Plus, the nude shoes looked awkward with her dark dress.

Despite our lukewarm reaction to her outfit, we do have to admit that the mom-of-one still looked gorgeous.
