New York Fashion Week just wrapped up the other day. Editors, buyers, fashion figures, bloggers, and stylish celebrities and socialites have packed their bags and flown to London to watch, well, the London Fashion Week shows. As of this very moment, a few British designers have already started showcasing their lineup for fall 2014. But before we move on to cover what’s on the LFW runway, here’s a sneak peek at one of the most memorable shows from New York Fashion Week — Betsey Johnson‘s Fall 2014 collection.

As expected, Johnson’s collection features pieces reminiscent of “a good girl gone punk and quirky.” But unlike what you’d normally expect from a fall lineup (read: somber hues, earth tones or warm earthy colors, dark to black colors, or winter white), Betsey Johnson’s is filled with bursts of brights and doses of sparkle. Boldly printed coats and jackets, brightly tinted fur toppers, and shimmering, glimmering frocks ruled its catwalk.

Even harder to ignore were the footwear — boots and pumps wrapped in fancy animal print, glittered fabric, and shiny croc-printed patent leather painted in poppy red, lime, and turquoise were in abundance.

Well, what can you say about Betsey Johnson’s fall 2014 collection? Are you down with the sparkles, bold prints, and bright accessories? Select items actually hold some promise — like those metallic gold studded booties in the last slide (far right).

Normally, designers trim down and simplify the pieces they put on the runway in an effort to make them more “sellable” once they hit the stores, so we’re actually hoping to see more “wearable” versions of the shoes above come fall.

For example, some of the styles she released for Spring 2014 look very promising. They’re still bold and girly, but definitely not as flamboyant:

You should also check out the shoes from her Blue by Betsey Johnson line. They’re nothing like the designer’s usual creations. They’re polished and sophisticated. The collection itself is filled with delicate and exquisite heels meant for bridal wear and, to a certain degree, formal wear.
