Finally, Amazon now carries Chie Mihara heels, pumps and boots in addition to the sandals that they’ve had for a while now.
Chie Mihara first piqued my interest with these pair of sandals which I saw not at Amazon but at Long Tall Sally. They’re beautiful and exquisite, not to mention that they’re on sale at 70% off.
Chie Mihara ‘Moisen’ Sandals, $399.00
I of course went to find out more about Chie Mihara and that lead me to her lovely nature-inspired website. From there I gleaned that Chie Mihara was born to Japanese parents and raised in Brazil, lived and studied fashion in Japan from age 18 to 22 then moved to New York after. She furthered her studies in fashion accessories, worked for an orthopedic shoe company, worked as a designer for Sam & Libby, moved to Spain at age 27, worked for the French label Charles Jourdan, founded her Chie Mihara shoe line at age 33 and the rest is fashion history. (Whew!)
Chie Mihara talks more about her Japanese, Brazilian and Spanish influences on her website, but if you study her shoe collection closely, you can see where her multinational background reveals itself. For me, I see the Japanese in the shape of her shoes, the Brazilian in the femininity of her designs and the Spanish in how well-made each of her shoes are (she says she makes the shoe lasts herself!).
I went on a search for more Chie Mihara shoes after visiting her website, but all I found were more sandal styles. That was of course until Amazon‘s new shoe arrivals, which thankfully included new stuff from Chie Mihara such as these lace-up ankle boots:
Chie Mihara Shoes ‘Blom’ Flower Suede Booties, $510.00
These beribboned taupe suede booties:
Chie Mihara Shoes ‘Jaeta’ Suede Booties with Small Bows, $550.00
And these knee-high lace-up tall boots:
Chie Mihara Shoes ‘Quechu’ Lace Up Suede Boots, $584.00
I love how distinctive Chie Mihara shoes are. You can identify a pair from far away. Chie Mihara is definitely one shoe designer I’ll be adding to my watch list and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us.
