Motherhood is a roller coaster, but for some, like Lake Bell, a toke or two of bud makes the journey much more bearable.

Famed for her voice work on animated comedies like “Robot Chicken” and “BoJack Horseman” and her role as Chloe in “The Secret Life of Pets 2,” the 43-year-old actress and director recently discussed how responsible cannabis use had made her “straight up a better parent.”

The “Harley Quinn” voice actress has two children with ex-husband Scott Campbell: a girl named Nova, 8, and a son named Ozgood, 5.

“I am straight up a better parent when I’m just two Canns in. I’m like on their level,” Bell elaborated on November 30, 2022, during a panel discussion on normalizing cannabis at the premiere party of the three-minute film she directed for the Cann x Jane campaign at NeueHouse Hollywood.

According to People, the American actress explained, “I’m just like, ‘That is a f***ing crazy dinosaur!’ Like, ‘Let’s get on the ground right now and be f***ing crazy dinosaurs, let’s open some presents. F*** it.’ I become literally a kid”.

Bell claimed she “can’t get through the holidays without” a little green while endorsing Cann goods. These “Cann Social Tonic” cans contain 2 milligrams of THC and 4 milligrams of CBD, or a “microdose” by consumable measures.

“Cann-Do Holiday,” the short film Bell wrote and filmed, is about a family Christmas celebration greatly enhanced by Cann’s THC and CBD-infused tonic. Meg Stalter, Benito Skinner, Brandon Kyle Goodman, Lauren Wasser, Bre-Z, and Raja are all featured in the advertising campaign.

Actress and Cann board member Rosario Dawson, Cannaclusive co-founder Mary Pryor, I Heart Jane CEO Socrates Rosenfeld, and Cann co-founder Luke Anderson shared their experiences with marijuana and ways to reduce racial inequalities in the cannabis industry. The Washington Post’s Taylor Lorenz mediated the panel discussion.

Better Than a Glass of Wine

The “Bless This Mess” alum has been open about her cannabis use in the presence of her kids. In 2018, she discussed her preference for marijuana over wine in an interview with MedMen’s Ember magazine.

“Like a glass of wine, there’s something really luxurious. Just the time it takes to get the wine and open the wine and find the glass, pour the wine, chill the wine,” Bell added. “With a vape, you take a hit, and you’re good, you know? Much better for a working parent.”

Bell also stated that she doesn’t keep her marijuana usage a secret from her two children. “I don’t really hide it. We wait until they go to bed, in the same way,” she remarked.

The “How to Make It in America” star continued, “We have the wine around and we have Beboe around,” referring to the cannabis product line she and her now ex-husband created. “It’s not mysterious. It’s nothing strange or weird or coveted.”

In an interview with Chicago North Shore Moms, the screenwriter revealed that she practices RIE parenting, a sort of respect-oriented parenting, which seems appropriate for a mother who prefers a glass of cannabis to a glass of wine.

“It’s a way to give your child the space to discover the world safely but independently. It’s the opposite of helicopter parenting,” she said. “You give them safe environments and allow them to explore in those environments without intervening all the time.”

“You [also] narrate what you’re doing to give them the benefit and respect of letting them know what you’re doing. Even if they don’t understand the words they know the routine by the sounds and tone. It empowers them.”

Where We’ve Seen Lake Bell in 2022

Earlier in 2022, Lake Bell attended the 15th annual Women In Film pre-Oscars party commemorating the 2022 Women Oscar Nominees.

The actress, who rose to fame with the web-to-TV series “Childrens Hospital,” graced the star-studded event at the Thompson Hollywood hotel in a stunning midi dress with a daring cut-out on her hip and slit up the side.

She celebrated the 60 women nominated for an Academy Award this year by wearing a racy outfit, accessorizing it with several silver rings, a pair of open-toe black shoes, and her light brown hair in loose waves.

In July, rumors of a romantic relationship began to circulate after Chris Rock, 57, and Lake Bell were spotted having dinner together in Santa Monica, California.

Although they did not walk hand in hand, they seemed comfortable and pleased in each other’s company as they strolled about the park.

On the purple carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever in October, Lake Bell, who dubbed Black Widow in the Marvel and Disney+ animated series “What If…?”, made a surprise appearance, wearing Alberta Ferretti. She appears as Dr. Graham in the movie.

The actress also looked stunning in a Christian Siriano gown as she posed for photos on the red carpet at the 2022 Women in Film Honors: Forging Forward Gala, which was sponsored by Max Mara, ShivHans Pictures, Lexus, and STARZ.

Sleek and seductive, the dress hugged her curves as a deep slit by her left leg revealed her seemingly bottomless gams. She carried a small black clutch and wore several bangles and long earrings to complete her look.

This past November in New York City, Lake Bell wore a lemon yellow coat while promoting her newest audiobook on NBC’s “Today” show.

The “What Happens in Vegas” actress paired it with a white blouse featuring an intricate collar. Bell wore all black at the bottom, from her Capri trousers to her polished black boots and understated black handbag.
