Laverne Cox has been taking Hollywood by storm.
In case you didn’t know, the inspirational trans actress will soon be gracing us with an exciting rendition of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the upcoming Fox musical television film The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
And, it seems like that’s not enough. Laverne has been doubling up on projects, and we recently spotted her promoting her latest CBS show “Doubt.”

In The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again, she sings the iconic song “Sweet Transvestite” in the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. The tall actress also performs a few other songs, including “Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me” and “I’m Going Home.”
Laverne Cox had a single concern when taking on the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the TV movie remake of “Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do The Time Warp Again.”
Her reservation centered around the term “transvestite,” particularly in the song “Sweet Transvestite.” Despite the word being outdated and inappropriate for modern times, Cox explained at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon that within the historical context of the original 1975 movie, the term retained its significance and altering the lyrics of an iconic song wouldn’t be appropriate.

“That was the only apprehension I really had about doing the film was the term transvestite,” she said. Laverne Cox has a beautiful soprano voice and has sung in several productions.
“I’ve been telling people, ‘Please do not go up to a transgender person in 2016 and call them a transvestite, that is an antiquated term.’ But in 1975 when Rocky Horror Picture Show came out transvestite meant a very different thing.”
“We don’t use that term anymore, but in the historical context of Rocky Horror it’s appropriate you don’t change the words to an iconic song,” she added.

“[I was a] huge fan of Rocky Horror before,” she said. “The song ‘Don’t Dream It, Be It’ when I discovered the film in college became a personal mantra of mine. I had so much fun. The cast is incredible. We all gave our hearts and souls. Kenny Ortega is a genius and it was a dream come true.”
Laverne strayed from her usual skin-baring blacks and reds to don an all-white ensemble at the CBS TCA press tour held in West Hollywood.
The Barbie doll inspiration wore a white shoulder cutout dress by Christian Siriano, which she daintily dressed up with pieces from Effy Jewelry, Erica Courtney Jewels, and Open Hearts by Jane Seymour Collection.
The then-32-year-old finished her look with spiked white leather Christian Louboutin “Follies” pumps.

Laverne wasn’t the only one looking pristine that night.
The actress totally twinned with her “Doubt” co-star Katherine Heigl, who will be making her big television comeback through the show after her “Grey’s Anatomy” fiasco.

The show is breaking ground for its first-ever permanent transgender series played by a transgender actress.
