The third week of Johnny Depp’s libel trial against The Sun came to a close last week, with Amber Heard spending four days on the stand as The Sun’s star witness.

Amber faced questioning over 14 allegations of domestic violence allegedly perpetrated by her ex-husband between 2013 and 2016. News Group Newspapers (NGN), The Sun’s publisher, relied on the said alleged incidents in its defense against Johnny Depp’s libel claims.

In her testimonies, Amber denied accusations that she was a heavy drug and alcohol user. She also denied being controlling and having an uncontrollable temper and accused Johnny of multiple acts of violence.

In a statement submitted to the court on July 20, she said: “I have never had an eating disorder, I have never been diagnosed with bipolar, I have never had a history of substance abuse or (of) liquor.”

Her statement also said: “Johnny says that I have been diagnosed as borderline (or borderline toxic narcissistic) personality disorder, and that I have other unspecified personality disorders – that I am a sociopath, etc. This is all completely untrue.”

While admitting to using Provigil, a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of excessive sleepiness, in her 20s as she was “having a hard time with sleep,” Amber denied being a regular/heavy drug user.

She said: “Johnny says I often drank more than him, and that I am a regular/heavy drug user. That’s just not true, although of course, I drank more than him during the brief periods when he was sober.”

If he was sober, then to be respectful, I would usually check with him that it was OK for me to drink wine in front of him. He would say yes and often insisted on pouring my wine. I am not a habitual drug user.

During our relationship, I would say that I could count the number of times I attempted to smoke marijuana on two hands. I don’t like it.

I am not a personality that likes to be out of control. I did not take cocaine at all when I was with Johnny. I have taken MDMA or mushrooms a handful of times with friends.

Amber told the High Court: “Johnny often put me in a situation where I was confronted with unimaginable frustrations and difficulties, often that were life-threatening to me.”

“When I felt my life was threatened, I tried to defend myself and that started to happen years into the relationship, years into the violence,” she added.

She also mentioned that Johnny threatened to kill her “many times” and that she endured “punching, slapping, kicking, head-butting, and choking.”

Depp has accused her of cheating with a number of other actors, whom he has given interesting nicknames. They include Leonardo ‘pumpkin head’ DiCaprio, Channing ‘potato-head’ Tatum, and others.

“He accused me of having affairs with each of my co-stars, movie after movie: Eddie Redmayne, James Franco, Jim Sturgess, Kevin Costner, Liam Hemsworth, Billy-Bob Thornton, Channing Tatum; even women co-stars like Kelly Garner,” Amber stated.

Amber has been present throughout the trial held at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. And during her appearances, she has been making a statement with her signature red scarf.

Tenth Day of Trial

On her first day of testimony, Amber was spotted holding her red scarf while leaving the High Court. She wore it with a white pleated blouse, tucked into the same Joseph Maddy crepe maxi skirt she wore during the sixth day of trial.

The actress also wore minimal makeup and styled her blonde tresses in a loose braid.
