The 2016 Film Independent Spirit Awards saw a number of stars dressed in their best spring ensembles. Rooney Mara, however, opted for her signature all-black look, sticking to her fail-safe style.

Although probably not the best pick for a daytime event held at the beach, the 30-year-old’s black Boss tweed dress looked elegant with her alabaster complexion.

This dramatic frock featured wide crossed back straps that exposed her shoulders and back. A pleated skirt with sheer panels offered glimpses of her legs.

Rooney kept her accessories to a minimum with only a ring and a pair of strappy heels that boosted her 5’3” frame.

The “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” star channeled Audrey Hepburn by pulling her dark locks back into an elegant updo. She completed her look with dark eyebrows and a swipe of red lipstick.

Rooney rounded out her all-black look with a pair of black Brian Atwood “Tamara” sandals. These sandals are made of leather and feature crisscross straps, adjustable ankle straps, open toes, and about four-inch heels.
