Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s three street-style looks outside the Crosby Street Hotel in Soho, New York City, from April 13–15, 2021, capture a distinctive moment in early-2020s minimalist fashion. Across the three outings, she mixed clean, neutral pieces from Totême and The Row with the more recognizable leather accessories and footwear associated with Daniel Lee’s era at Bottega Veneta.
The shoes make the progression particularly interesting. Huntington-Whiteley moved from Bottega Veneta’s unusual Lagoon Bubble-Insole sandals to the house’s square-toe Stretch sandals before finishing the three-day run in Totême’s white leather-and-suede sneakers. Rather than relying on one footwear formula, she used each pair to change the character of otherwise restrained outfits.
At 5ft 9in (175.3 cm), with a reported US shoe size 9, Huntington-Whiteley regularly wears everything from flat sneakers to high stilettos. These three looks show that range particularly clearly, while oversized leather outerwear, slim trousers, bare legs, and a controlled palette keep the focus on proportion and footwear.

1. Monochrome in Totême: Black Leather and White Sneakers

For her April 15 look, Huntington-Whiteley went almost entirely monochrome in Totême, pairing the label’s long black leather trench coat with a black stretch-merino sweater and cork zip high-rise leggings.
The collarless leather coat has a longline silhouette, silver-tone two-way front zip, and matching belt. Underneath, the slim leggings keep the proportions narrow below the heavier leather outerwear.

She added Jessica McCormack Hex large and medium hoop earrings and a Livewire Helix diamond ring, while her blonde hair was pulled into a swept-back bun. A black Styleguise Tsxsg cotton face mask reflects the period in which the photographs were taken.

Against the black clothing, her white Bottega Veneta The Pouch clutch becomes one of the strongest contrasts in the outfit. The woven leather also introduces texture against the smoother finish of the Totême trench.

Totême “The Sneakers”: White Leather, Suede, and Gum Soles
Huntington-Whiteley grounded the outfit with Totême’s white “The Sneakers,” shifting away from the heels she had worn on the previous two days.

Handmade in Italy from nappa leather and suede, the low-top sneakers feature a raised monogram detail, cotton laces, rear pull tabs, suede toe paneling, and raw rubber outsoles. Their white uppers and gum-colored soles break up the otherwise uninterrupted black outfit.

2. Coral Leather: Bottega Veneta Stretch Sandals and Totême
One day earlier, on April 14, Huntington-Whiteley wore a warmer palette, pairing a coral-orange Bottega Veneta leather trench with a cream Totême Gervasi blouse and a cream Bottega Veneta leather skirt.

The mid-length leather coat features a classic collar, front zip, flap pockets, and a belted waist with Bottega Veneta’s triangular buckle. Leaving it open allows the pale layers underneath to break up the expanse of orange leather.

She wore the same Jessica McCormack earrings and rings, with her blonde hair center-parted and styled in loose waves. A tan pleated Styleguise mask stayed within the cream, tan, and coral palette.

Bottega Veneta Stretch Sandals: The Square-Toe Detail
The defining footwear detail was Bottega Veneta’s nude Stretch leather sandals. Crafted in Italy from lambskin, the slip-on heels combine a wide leather vamp with an open square toe, logo-embossed footbed, and slim 3.5-inch stiletto heel.

The sharply squared front is central to the design. Our guide to square, pointed, round, and other shoe toe shapes explains how the angular silhouette differs from more traditional shapes, and Bottega Veneta was among the labels that made the exaggerated square toe particularly recognizable during this period.

The Stretch silhouette also became a celebrity favorite. Hailey Bieber wore Bottega Veneta Stretch sandals with neutral tailoring in Los Angeles in May 2021, offering another example of how the spare square-toe design worked with understated clothing.
3. Sculptural Bottega: Lagoon Sandals and the Shell Bag
For the first of the three Soho looks, on April 13, Huntington-Whiteley layered a pale Bottega Veneta Fall 2020 leather trench over a plain white Totême T-shirt and black The Row Corza stretch-scuba skinny jeans.

The trench has a more complex construction than the following day’s coral coat, with a storm flap, epaulettes, belted cuffs, belted waist, and slit pockets. The slim black trousers underneath create a strong contrast with the volume and pale color of the outerwear.

She added a Lauren Rubinski extra-large 14-karat gold chain to her Jessica McCormack jewelry and wore her hair in a center-parted low ponytail. Her pleated Styleguise mask again stayed close to the outfit’s neutral palette.

The largest accessory was Bottega Veneta’s Shell bag from the Resort 2021 collection. Its cutout taupe leather panels form a rounded, shell-like structure around an interior drawstring pouch, making the bag an architectural counterpoint to the fluid trench.

Bottega Veneta Lagoon Sandals: Bubble Insoles, Toe Rings, and Studs
The shoes were Bottega Veneta’s Spring/Summer 2021 Lagoon Bubble-Insole sandals, a more intricate design than the pared-back Stretch pair Huntington-Whiteley wore the following day.
The sandals combine a bubble-textured footbed with slender studded leather straps, toe-ring construction, buckled ankle straps, and sculpted 3.5-inch heels. The raised nodules across the insole make the footbed itself part of the visible design rather than simply a surface beneath the foot.

4. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Shoe Style: Minimal Clothes, Distinctive Footwear
Seen together, the three outfits show how Huntington-Whiteley changes the mood of restrained clothing through footwear. Totême sneakers make the black leather look more casual, Bottega Veneta Stretch sandals continue the clean lines of the cream-and-coral outfit, and the Lagoon sandals introduce toe rings, studs, and a textured footbed to an otherwise pared-back combination.
Her wider shoe archive follows the same pattern: simple clothes often provide the base, while the shape, texture, or proportion of the shoes supplies the distinction.
