Yves Saint Laurent’s Shield-Carrying Loafer Pumps – RAD or BAD?

This new Yves Saint Laurent loafer pump from the Spring 2012 collection may have its own shield but I feel like the gold metal plate makes it more fragile rather than protect it. Sure, the metal plate makes this pump stand out and ooh, it’s shiny, but I’d be worried sick about scuffing, scratching and worse, denting it the whole time this shoe is on my feet!

Most especially that these Yves Saint Laurent loafer pumps retail for $1,695 at Neiman Marcus, even the tiniest dent on the metal plate would feel as big as the dent these shoes will make on your bank account.

Check out the much talked-about and in the running for the title of Spring 2012’s “It” shoe, the Yves Saint Laurent shield loafer pumps. Do you find these shoes RAD or BAD?
