Playing around with his favorite embellishment of the moment, Giuseppe Zanotti stuck glare-reflecting, as-wide-as-your-palm gilded metal plates onto these newly arrived booties of his:

As if the shiny gold wasn’t eye-searing enough, GZ added even more wattage through the metallic cap toes and the chrome stiletto heels. When you look at the second picture closely, you’ll see that the metal plates are Velcro-attached, meaning the entire things may be removed as you please.
If a sense of deja vu came over you as you read the last paragraph, don’t worry because the same thing happened to us. All it took was a bit of digging through our archives to unearth these super similar metal-plated loafer pumps from Yves Saint Laurent (back when they still had the “Yves” in their name):
Yves Saint Laurent Metal-Plated Loafer Pumps from Spring 2012
Same gold metal plate, same huge size, and same detachable feature. The big difference is that while the Yves Saint Laurent loafer pumps were hailed as the “it” shoes of their season, the ones from Giuseppe Zanotti haven’t generated the same kind of buzz maybe because we’ve seen the style before and Giuseppe Zanotti has used metal embellishments so much that he’s already run them into the ground?
Anyway, we came here to ask you a question, so ask we will: between the two, who do you think did shielded shoes better — Giuseppe Zanotti or Saint Laurent?
