When Kim Kardashian and Claire Danes, two very different celebs with two very different figures, stepped out recently in Roland Mouret dresses and BOTH looked ravishing, I knew I needed to know more about who the designer behind these insta-transforming dresses was.

It turns out Roland Mouret is the designer behind what has been called “the most recognizable dress of the last decade,” “the dress that every woman wanted,” and “the dress of the season,” the now iconic and legendary Roland Mouret ‘Galaxy’ dress.

It’s easy enough to see why this dress (launched way back in the Spring of 2006) has been given those titles. ANY woman with ANY body type – from the strictly slim Victoria Beckham to the athletic Cameron Diaz to the curvy Dita Von Teese – looks like they have enviable hourglass figures in it.
This one single design instantly catapulted Roland Mouret into the collector-designer stratosphere and established him and his future collections as must-have pieces for women.

Even though Roland Mouret veered away from his signature figure-hugging style in his last few collections, he has decidedly brought it back for this Spring 2011.
The reinventions are now what we see on Kim Kardashian and Claire Danes, which feature new necklines, new drapes, and a new more figure-hugging, more body-revealing jersey, viscose, and wool blend fabrics.
These are the Roland Mouret dresses Kim Kardashian and Claire Danes are wearing in the pictures above.

Though I would kill for a Hervé Léger dress, I think it’s time we got a new updated look to the figure-hugging cocktail dress. Roland Mouret just might take that crown away from Hervé Léger if he continues coming up with timeless styles such as these.
