Thandiwe Newton looked as ethereal as ever at the premiere of her latest film, Half of a Yellow Sun. In the film, the actress plays the Igbo female protagonist, Olanna.

Despite numerous protests from the African community about Igbo women looking nothing like Thandie, most of whom claimed that the majority of Igbo people tend to be darker in complexion (a petitioner even commented, “I would be lying to you if I said I know anyone in my village who looks like her”), the film received a thunderous standing ovation at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.

Thandie also announced that she was expecting her third child at the festival. A source told Us Weekly that the actress was very excited.

The actress was head-to-toe with Stella McCartney. She wore a black-and-white sheath dress and paired it with faux nappa heels and a box clutch.

Her classic, almost LBD piece is the perfect go-to dress when you need something that can double as a casual and semi-formal outfit.
This throw-and-go dress doesn’t require too many accessories, thanks to its gorgeous wave design, strategically placed to give even the less-endowed the illusion of an hourglass shape:
