When Abbie Cornish arrived at the San Diego Convention Center for Comic-Con in July 2013, she leaned into a sleek, leg-lengthening silhouette that played to her statuesque frame.

Often listed at around 5’8″ (173 cm)—though widely believed to be slightly closer to 5’7″ (170 cm)—the Australian actress, who wears a US shoe size 7, used sharp tailoring and elevated heels to enhance her naturally long lines, offering a more structured, fashion-forward take on summer event dressing.

Promoting the RoboCop panel, the Australian actress chose a bold crimson Hervé L. Leroux dress, which she paired with black ALDO “Alysa” embellished sandals.

While Emilia Clarke also opted for red during the convention, Cornish’s look leaned into a more structured, edgy aesthetic. She looks lovely in the color and also wore a red Giulietta gown with Aldo flats at TIFF.

However, at the Robocop premiere in London, the actress went for a different color. Abbie Cornish styled a sequined tangerine dress with vegan Shiekh shoes.

The styling included clean makeup and several pieces of statement jewelry.

Her “Alysa” sandals themselves are a notable example of the era’s trend for mixed-media footwear, combining gold studs with sheer mesh panels to create a bootie-inspired silhouette.

While the original ALDO “Alysa” embellished sandals are now sold out, you can still find similarly bold, studded, and mesh-accented styles from ALDO and newer releases at retailers like Zappos, where the brand continues to offer statement-making evening sandals.

👠 From Comic-Con Edge to Red-Carpet Polish: Why 5’7″ Style Is All About Balance

Abbie Cornish’s Comic-Con look is a perfect snapshot of how a 5’7″ (170 cm) frame can carry both structure and edge with ease. The clean lines of her crimson dress elongated her silhouette, while the studded, mesh-paneled ALDO sandals introduced just enough attitude to keep the look from feeling overly polished.

It’s that balance—between sleek and statement—that defines great styling at this height. And while Cornish leans into a slightly edgier, early-2010s aesthetic, other celebrities of similar stature take a more refined approach, using heels to subtly enhance their proportions rather than dominate them.
