John and Chrissy’s journey to welcoming their miracle baby, Esti, has been difficult, having gone through the loss of their son Jack due to partial placenta abruption in September 2020.
The two have been open about their mourning and challenges. Chrissy disclosed in September 2022 that she needed abortion care that helped her survive during the pregnancy, even though she previously referred to the incident as a miscarriage.

Chrissy shared at a summit appearance in 2022, “It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention.”
