Embarking on a journey that unfolded like a fairytale, Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin’s enchanting love story has captured many fans’ hearts.

Since June 2018, this fashionable couple has become a favorite in the industry, charming everyone with their romance. However, their path to love had its hesitations.

Let’s explore how these two souls found each other amidst the glitz and glamour, culminating in a bond leading them down the aisle.

Dylan Sprouse’s Journey as a Multi-Talented Star

Born on August 4, 1992, in Arezzo, Italy, Dylan Sprouse, who towers at 5 feet and 9 ¾ inches (177.2 cm), began his journey into entertainment alongside his twin brother Cole Sprouse.

Named after Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, the twins’ American parents, Matthew Sprouse and Melanie Wright, moved to Long Beach, California, when they were four months old.

Dylan’s career took flight in 1993 when he and Cole shared the role of Patrick Kelly in Grace Under Fire until 1998. It started a series of collaborative appearances in films and television series, including starring together in the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody from 2005 to 2008.

After the conclusion of The Suite Life on Deck in 2011, Dylan enrolled at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where he successfully earned a four-year degree in video game design.

In 2017, Dylan’s solo career took shape when he secured the lead role in the thriller film Dismissed. This momentum carried into 2018, marked by the opening of All-Wise Meadery in Brooklyn, a nod to his Heathen religion.

He also had a minor role as Trevor in the 2020 film After We Collided, starred in Tyger Tyger with Barbara Palvin, and appeared in the Chinese movie The Curse of Turandot. Alongside his acting career, Dylan dipped his toes into comic book creation, releasing “Sun Eater.”

While fostering his professional endeavors, Dylan’s personal life also blossomed. In 2018, he began a relationship with model Barbara Palvin, resulting in an engagement by September 2022 and a heartwarming wedding on July 15, 2023.

How Did Dylan Sprouse Meet Barbara Palvin?

Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin met at a Harper’s Bazaar party in 2017, setting the stage for a love story that would unfold in a uniquely modern way.

In a September 2018 interview with Page Six, Dylan recounted, “We conversated. I cracked jokes, she cracked jokes, and we clicked.”

Their initial connection was established, yet it would be some time before their romance flourished. This modern love story took an unconventional route when Dylan slid into Barbara’s DMs, a move that many can relate to in today’s digital age.

Dylan told W Magazine in February 2019, “She followed me, so I was like, I guess I’ll give her something. And I slid into her DMs. I was like, ‘Hey, I don’t know if you’re in New York for very long, but we should hang out if you want to. Here’s my number.’ And she didn’t message me for six months.”

However, Barbara took her time in responding, revealing, “I took my time. I knew I wasn’t in a good mindset at the time, and maybe deep inside I knew that it could be something more.”

As fate would have it, Dylan’s thoughts of Barbara resurfaced just before he embarked on a six-month shoot in China. Barbara finally responded to his message during this moment, reigniting their connection.

Her journey to China marked the turning point as she took the leap to meet Dylan for their first date. In 2019, Barbara revealed to PEOPLE Now, “I kind of flew to China to see him after talking for three months.”

She recounted that she was initially set to work in China, but her planned assignment got canceled. Barbara then candidly asked Dylan if it was crazy that she still wished to come to China to visit him. She fondly remembered his response: “Please come.”

Barbara shared that while Dylan wanted to be exclusive, she expressed her need to get to know him better. Reflecting on that moment, she said, “And then I was like, ‘OK, let’s do it.’ … I just sat down, took a deep breath, and I’m like, ‘What am I waiting for? There’s no other guy I would love more than I love him, and he’s got everything that I need.'”

Their laughter-filled journey continued as Barbara playfully posted a selfie with Dylan, announcing, “Two worms officially in the big apple.”

When the challenges of the COVID-19 lockdown brought them closer under the same roof, their compatibility shone through. Dylan noted in a May 2020 interview with Entertainment Tonight, “What we’ve come out noticing is that we’re super compatible. It’s like we know when to give each other space. In September 2021, another change was on the horizon. Barbara shared that they were trading their Brooklyn apartment for a new adventure in Los Angeles. She expressed the bittersweet sentiment of leaving behind the city that had witnessed their journey while embracing the exciting possibilities of Tinsel Town.

Meeting Each Other’s Family Members

Sharing glimpses of their personal lives, Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin shed light on their experiences of introducing each other to their families.

Dylan candidly recounted his meeting with Barbara’s parents in Hungary, admitting that language barriers added a unique layer of challenge.

In the same W Magazine interview, he explained, “I wasn’t nervous to meet her parents, but the truth is that there is a language barrier, obviously. Her mother speaks a very tiny bit [of English], and I am not proficient in Hungarian. I’m trying, but learning is definitely an overstatement.”

While the couple built a life together, there was a curious absence: Barbara had not yet met Dylan’s twin, Cole. She shared her anticipation, saying, “I still haven’t met his brother. Soon!” The wait was due to Cole’s busy filming schedule for Riverdale in Vancouver.

The awaited moment arrived at the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscar party, where Barbara met Cole for the first time. Even before their face-to-face meeting, Cole interacted with Barbara and Dylan on Instagram, playfully teasing them in the comments section.

It wasn’t the end of their red carpet ventures. After the initial meeting, Barbara joined the Sprouse twins at Vanity Fair’s 2022 Academy Awards afterparty.

Supporting Each Other’s Careers

Throughout their journey, Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin have demonstrated unwavering support for each other’s careers, celebrating each milestone with genuine pride and affection.

In 2018, during Barbara’s triumphant return to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show after six years, Dylan became a stage boyfriend, surprising her backstage with a bag of her favorite Shake Shack burgers.

Yet, support flowed both ways. When Dylan achieved a lifelong dream by publishing his first comic book, “Sun Eater,” in May 2020, Barbara stood by his side.

The couple’s engagement was confirmed through social media on June 15, 2023, with Barbara captioning an Instagram video from their joint cover shoot, “With the power invested in V, I am a Sprouse to be 👰🏻‍♀️.”

They also shared the joyful news through an intimate conversation with Dylan’s twin brother, Cole, for V magazine. The duo revealed that their engagement happened in September 2022, a moment they chose to savor privately before sharing with the world.

Dylan shared, “We didn’t necessarily feel the need to be fully transparent with the public about that aspect of our engagement,” before Barbara jumped in to add, “We just [wanted] to do it on our time.”

With their engagement confirmed, Dylan and Barbara’s journey towards marriage unfolded. On July 15, 2023, the couple exchanged their vows in a church outside of Budapest, Hungary, where Barbara’s parents married.

They were surrounded by 115 cherished guests, including Dylan’s best man, his twin brother, and Cole’s girlfriend, Ari Fournier, one of Barbara’s bridesmaids.

In the same interview, Dylan shared his thoughts about marriage, saying, “I think the definition of marriage is very different for our generation than what it meant for the previous one. For me, at least, marriage is a promise of kind of loving you endlessly, and being your partner.”

On the other hand, Barbara reflected that the engagement brought more nerves than the concept of marriage itself. She recalled, “I mean, a man has time to prepare for the proposal — Dylan kept the ring for seven months before he asked the question — but for me, it was right then and there. I knew since we started dating that I want to marry him, but it’s a big decision.”

While their Hungarian wedding was a beautiful tribute to Barbara’s heritage, their story doesn’t end there. Plans for a grander wedding await the couple in California, where Dylan grew up.

After the intimate Hungarian celebration, they look forward to embracing their loved ones and continuing their journey as husband and wife on their terms.
