When we hear “Erdem,” we think of dressed-up formals, prim and proper sensibilities, and stately figures like the Duchess of Cambridge.
However, we didn’t see any of those in the label’s Spring 2014 collection. Gone are the delicateness, stiffness, and formality—in their place are inspirations from a rebellious schoolboy with a mad cross-dressing streak.
You can immediately see the institutional influences in the white collared shirts, preppy blazers, and rugby-shirt striped patterns. A top with words scrawled on it immediately recalls our school days of doodling in notebooks while away time during boring lectures.

But Erdem is Erdem, and it seemed the designer couldn’t avoid his signature aesthetic for long.
The Erdem we know and love soon started appearing in fluffy feathers, florals, and sheer fabrics on sweatshirts, varsity jackets, and shirtdresses.

Soon, the spring 2014 collection was full-blown Erdem, with intricate embroidery, floral prints, and elegant draping.

If Erdem’s schoolboy/schoolgirl look catches on for Spring 2014, we’ll be on board!
Erdem’s innovative designs have consistently captivated both celebrities and fashion enthusiasts. For instance, Kate Middleton turned heads at the 100 Women in Hedge Funds Gala by donning a bold Erdem floral gown, showcasing the brand’s appeal among royals.
Similarly, Chloë Grace Moretz embraced Erdem’s vintage-inspired aesthetic at The 5th Wave London photocall, pairing a floral dress with Casadei t-strap sandals.
