When Jennifer Garner arrived at the 90th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on March 4, 2018, the saturated royal-blue tone of her Atelier Versace gown instantly stood out against the sea of metallics and neutrals on the red carpet.

Styled by Jill Lincoln and Jordan Johnson, the custom design combined Grecian-inspired draping with the sharp structure characteristic of Donatella Versace’s eveningwear from that era. The asymmetric neckline flowed into a soft chiffon overlay and sweeping train that moved fluidly behind her as she walked the carpet.

Although the floor-length silhouette concealed most of her footwear, Garner reportedly paired the gown with coordinating Versace evening sandals in a matching satin finish — a classic red-carpet styling choice that keeps the line of the dress uninterrupted from shoulder to floor.

Her Piaget jewelry introduced the look’s strongest source of sparkle, including sapphire-and-diamond earrings and statement rings in white gold that reinforced the gown’s monochromatic sapphire palette. Altogether, the jewelry suite was valued at more than $800,000.

Jennifer Garner has made several memorable appearances at the Academy Awards over the years, with her red-carpet style evolving from early-2000s Hollywood glamour to the more sculptural, streamlined silhouettes she favored in later years.

Long before her sapphire-blue Atelier Versace gown at the 2018 Oscars, Garner embraced dramatic vintage couture at the 76th Academy Awards in 2004, arriving in a fiery persimmon Valentino Couture gown that captured the extravagant romance of old Hollywood dressing.

Jennifer Garner’s Red-Carpet Style Always Comes Back to the Shoes

From the fiery Valentino couture drama of her 2004 Oscars appearance to the sculptural blue Atelier Versace gown she wore in 2018, Jennifer Garner’s best fashion moments show a clear through line: polished silhouettes, graceful movement, and footwear chosen to support the look rather than compete with it.

Whether she is wearing hidden evening sandals, sharp patent pumps, romantic satin heels, or off-duty sneakers, her style remains grounded in the same easy elegance.
