In 1999, a young and talented actress named Mischa Barton took on the role of Kyra Collins in the film The Sixth Sense.

In the American psychological thriller film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, Kyra was portrayed as a young girl who tragically met her demise at the hands of her own mother.

Interestingly, Mischa Barton chose to keep her involvement in the movie a secret from her friends, leading to a surprising and unforgettable experience for one of them.

In the iconic scene from “The Sixth Sense,” Mischa Barton’s performance as Kyra Collins, a murdered child, is unforgettable. Her pale white makeup and ghostly appearance make her almost unrecognizable from her later role as Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.”

“We would make a mixture to put in my mouth. They gave me options between cereals and bananas. And then, my mother [in the film] has Munchausen [syndrome] where you’re poisoning your child, so that’s a really intense thing, but creepy is part of my vernacular. It doesn’t really bother me that much,” she told Variety in 2019.

“I’ve always been fascinated by gothic and dark things. So, it wasn’t like I was scared. It was more just really interesting subject matter. I’ve always felt like there’s a real need to do the character justice. Everybody just asks, “Was it traumatizing?” It really wasn’t. I was already 13 and I could handle it.”

When “The Sixth Sense” was released by Buena Vista Pictures (through its Hollywood Pictures label) on August 6, 1999, Mischa Barton was 13 years old.

Haley Joel Osment, who delivered a memorable performance as Cole Sear, was 11 years old, capturing the film’s emotional depth with remarkable maturity.

Meanwhile, Bruce Willis, who portrayed Dr. Malcolm Crowe, brought his seasoned presence to the screen at 44, anchoring the cast with his seasoned expertise.

In March 2013, Mischa Barton took to the red carpet of the Fire and Ice Gala, looking like fire and ice herself.

The British-American film, television, and stage actress and occasional fashion model stuck to a white and silver color palette as she showed off her midriff and legs.

The star of “The O.C.” picked a see-through white top and skirt combo from Katharine Kidd’s Spring 2013 collection.

The long-sleeved top showed off her white bra underneath, and her matching knee-length skirt featured the same white lace overlay.
