Face Forward was founded in 2007 by the Alessi family on the principle that domestic violence survivors who cannot afford the fees associated with proper internal and external care should be treated pro bono, and provides reconstructive surgery and emotional support for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.

Sophia Hutchins, who was inspired to Caitlyn Jenner to undergo gender transition long before they met, was previously known as Scott Hutchins, a conservative male student at Christian school Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
