Taylor Swift released the official music video for her song “The Man” on YouTube on Thursday and you can watch it right now. Taking several months to make, the video was directed by Swift, making it her official solo directorial debut!
Meant to make a commentary on gender equality, Taylor transforms into a man while dressed in prosthetics, color contacts, a wig, and facial hair. She can also be seen wearing The Speculator blue light blocking optical frames in chestnut brown tortoise that you can purchase at Privé Revaux.

“They’d say I hustled/Put in the work/They wouldn’t shake their heads and question how much of this I deserve,” she sings in the fourth single from her seventh studio album, Lover (2019).
“What I was wearing, if I was rude/Could all be separated from my good ideas and power moves.”

At the end of the clip, her speaking voice is provided by Dwayne Douglas Johnson, also known by his ring name, The Rock. He was quick to congratulate the singer in a post on Twitter.
Congrats my friend! 👏🏾🙌🏾 My pleasure to voice THE MAN. What a transformation and more importantly, great message about women’s equality and the importance of straight up being kind and good to people. Next we sing our duet. You bring the guitar, I’ll bring the tequila 🎸🥃
As the director (voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), Swift asks her “man” character, “Could you try to be sexier? Maybe more likable this time?”

In the music video, Taylor also wears a red and gold print shirt from Versace and Christian Louboutin dress shoes.

A few days earlier, the Lover singer hosted a live Q&A with fans on YouTube in the chat section of her YouTube Premiere for the new video.
“I love you guys so much for deciding to dedicate your morning/evening/afternoon to this chat I LOVE YOU,” Taylor said during the hour-long chat. After responding to a few questions she added, “Thanks so much to everyone who either stayed up hella late or got up mega early for this. I love ya – that is so nice of you.”
