After leaving America’s Next Top Model in December 2015, many wondered what was next for Tyra Banks. Although she occasionally appeared on the show, Tyra had already begun exploring new ventures.

The CW initially canceled ANTM after its 22nd season, but VH1 revived the series in 2016 with Rita Ora as the host for the 23rd season. Tyra returned as host for the 24th season, which aired in 2018.

The Atlantic attributes the failure of “America’s Next Top Model” to its shift from a modeling competition to a branding and social media-focused contest. The show moved away from its original fantasy world, where contestants aimed for modeling careers, and instead emphasized online popularity, fan voting, and social media influence.

This change diluted the core of the show, taking away its escapist appeal and causing fans to lose interest, leading to a decline in ratings.“ After stepping away from ANTM, Tyra sought new opportunities in television and business.

Tyra Banks Joins ‘The New Celebrity Apprentice’

In December 2016, Tyra announced her debut as a boardroom adviser on “The New Celebrity Apprentice” alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger — the new Donald Trump — at the Q&A event in Universal City.

The advisers for this season also included Jessica Alba, Warren Buffett, and Steve Ballmer.

TYRA Beauty and Other Business Ventures

Tyra shared that after years of having full control over America’s Next Top Model, she finds it refreshing to take a step back and be on the sidelines. She has since launched her own business, TYRA Beauty, which offers a range of beauty products, including makeup and skincare.

In the interview, Tyra Banks explained that she finds acting in movies more difficult than reality TV because she needs to memorize lines.

She said, “Movies are difficult… I have to remember lines… I freaked out.” In contrast, as a TV host, she can be herself and doesn’t need to rely on scripts. While she typically turns down movie roles, she expressed excitement about working on Life-Size 2, saying, “I am working on Life-Size 2… hopefully in a couple of years.”

The American fantasy-comedy television film Life-Size 2, also known as Life-Size 2: A Christmas Eve, premiered on December 2, 2018, during Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas.

Tyra’s involvement in The New Celebrity Apprentice didn’t come without challenges. Due to the show’s ties to Donald Trump, she was included in the #GrabYourWallet campaign, which targets businesses linked to Trump. However, after pledging to disengage from the show in a conversation with campaign organizer Shannon Coulter, Tyra and her beauty brand were removed from the boycott list. Tyra Beauty also confirmed it would not sponsor future series.
